Suing the Record Label

British singer BADLY DRAWN BOY is suing his former record label for $540,000 (GBP300,000) in unpaid royalties. The musician - real name DAMON GOUGH - wants XL to pay him $360,000 (GBP200,000) for the soundtrack to HUGH GRANT movie ABOUT A BOY and $71,640 (GBP39,800) for his last album ONE PLUS ONE IS ONE. Record bosses claim they're withholding payments on the About The Boy album until XL recoups the advance payment it made to movie company WORKING TITLE for the rights to release the soundtrack.

New Single

Badly Drawn Boy, aka Damon Gough, releases his new single next week on April 21st. ‘All Possibilities’ (released by Twisted Nerve, through XL Recordings) is the third single to be taken from his top ten album, ‘Have You Fed The Fish?’ the follow up to 2000’s Mercury Music Prize winning release ‘The Hour Of Bewilderbeast.’ ‘All Possibilities’ comes out on two formats (cd and 7” vinyl) with both featuring exclusive tracks. The cd will feature ‘Where Were You’ and ‘Let The Sunshine’ recorded live from Maida Vale Studios for BBC Radio 1’s Lamaq live. The 7” is backed with live favourite, ‘Walk Away Renee’ (a cover of the Lefte Bank classic) which is a rough and ready audience bootleg from his US tour in 2000. Causing a Stir in London

Badly Drawn Boy recently caused a stir in central London whilst filming the video for ‘All Possibilities’. Two secret cameras filmed Gough busking the single to a mixture of bemused and indifferent commuters outside Waterloo Station. As was widely reported in the next days newspapers, in the first hour and a half of performing BDB made the grand sum of £1.60, enough to make Gough comment “It’s well below the average wage isn’t it? I’d be better off working at Mc Donalds…”
